Jimmy Fallon of the U.S. late-night show “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” will have a special interview with the cast of the South Korean hit series “Squid Game.”
Netflix said Lee Jung-jae, Jung Ho-yeon, Park Hae-soo, and Wi Ha-joon are scheduled to appear on the show online for a Tuesday record of an episode, which is set to be aired Wednesday in the U.S.
“Squid Game,” the nine-episode survival series, soared to the top of Netflix charts since it was released. It marked the first time South Korean content has garnered the number one place in Netflix’s U.S. show ranking.
Some South Korean acts have already made appearances in the Jimmy Fallon show, including Blackpink, BTS, and Oscar-acclaimed director Bong Joon-ho.
The streaming analytics company based in the U.S., FlixPatrol, declared “Squid Game” as the most famous show on Netflix for 11 days in 80 countries worldwide, The Korea Herald reported.
The craze reached Paris, France over the weekend, another report from The Korea Herald said, with the “Squid Game” pop-up store welcoming European fans over the weekend.
From Saturday to Sunday, the store located at a café in Paris’ 2nd arrondissement accommodated fans who dressed up as the red-suited guards in the series and took photos with the costume on.
Apart from the get-up, the store also made the fans experience the “dalgona bbobgi,” a children’s game shown on the series. The challenge of getting out a shape from a sugar candy without damaging the entire piece was taken on by fans and visitors.
“Squid Game” is said to become the most popular original Netflix content ever, according to the streaming platform’s co-CEO Ted Sarandos last month.
“Squid Game will definitely be our biggest non-English language show in the world, for sure,” he said during an event.
