K-pop boy band Highlight’s Yoon Doo-joon to appear in the new TV series titled, “There is no Goo Pil Soo,” as announced by his management company, Around US Entertainment.
The agency confirmed his appearance on Saturday, stating, “The drama will begin filming in July.”
The series will show Jung-seok, played by Yoon, a genius in his 20s who is aiming to create his own startup company. After his admission to the most prestigious college in Seoul, Jung-seok aspires to become Korea’s Mark Zuckerberg, the co-founder of Facebook.
“There is No Goo Pil Soo” will tell the bromance between Jung-seok and Goo Pil-soo, played by Kwak Do-won, a man in his 40s who is looking for his breakthrough in life. Kwak is known for his roles in the movies “The Attorney” (2013) and “The Man Standing Next” (2019).
The series will show diverse social issues in Korea, such as education to employment.
“There is No Goo Pil Soo” is Yoon’s first drama since his discharge from the military service in April 2020.
Yoon debuted in 2009 as the leader of the boy band BEAST, later renamed Highlight in 2017. The music act, currently consisting of Yang Yo-seob, Lee Gi-kwang, Son Dong-woon and Yoon, has released several hits, such as “Fiction” (2011) and “Beautiful Night” (2012).
Yoon has been pursuing his acting career and has appeared in several popular shows, including KBS2’s “Radio Romance” (2018).
